Health Journey Biography

I always thought I was healthy. Prior to 2020, I would say I was active and watched what I ate…most of the time. During our trying times in 2020, I found myself indulging more in rich foods, watching lots of TV, and my focus on exercise falling by the way side. By year end, I came to the realization that I was tired of being tired, I was tired of how I looked and most importantly, how I felt. I realized my inflammation was getting out of control and I really didn’t know if I had the energy nor the knowledge to make the needed changes. I thought at the time, medications were the answer but with that came awful side effects of more weight gain, less energy and depression. I remember sharing with my husband that I didn’t want to take the medications and that I longed to feel better, have more energy, and be happy with ‘me.’

If I’m true to myself, my poor choices and habits led to my health challenges, and I realized I had to make a shift. After all, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and cancer all run in my family. As a Hispanic woman, and the eldest daughter of 5 siblings, I was brought up to put myself last and hide my pain. I wasn’t taught about the importance of eating healthy nor was I taught about the importance of proper hydration nor creating good healthy habits. Growing up eating unhealthy food, unfortunately, was our family’s focus. I learned of a health program, and while I was skeptical at first, I knew I had to give it a chance.

I’ll fast forward and will happily share that I’ve been on this amazing health journey now for 7 months and I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. By the tenth week of being on the program, I successfully met my healthy weight goal by losing 20 pounds and I was experiencing more laughter, increased energy, minimal to no inflammation throughout my body and true personal happiness once again. I gained my confidence that I had lost, and I was no longer suffering in silence.

I am proud to share that my journey has just begun, and I haven’t felt this good in many, many years. This is what ignited my desire and my passion to serve as a Certified Independent Health Coach. Having the passion to protect and the heart to serve truly fills my cup. More importantly, experiencing health transformations alongside of my clients is a blessing. My desire is to transform our communities to embrace a healthy mindset and understand the outcomes and impacts. I have learned that others want and seek this help but don’t really know how to get started. As a coach and mentor, I now have the tools to effectively guide others to achieve their health goals. I stand proud to serve and pay it forward!
